The guidon
2007 experiment: what Custer saw during the Last Stand
GUIDON ON WEIR POINT
Experiment with guidon on Weir Point (the hill where Captain Weir, and Benteen and Reno were standing at 6 p.m.). Can it be seen from Calhoun Hill and Custer Hill (Last Stand Hill), Custer's last position ? Answer... YES.
Custer was fighting, looking at this flag (Benteen had put a flag on Weir Point), hoping that the support he had asked for three hours before would eventually arrive. But nobody ever came.
Sitting Bull: “As (Custer’s soldiers) stood to be killed they were seen to look far away to the hills in all directions and we knew they were looking for the hidden soldiers (Benteen’s and Reno’s soldiers) in the hollows of the hills to come and help them.”
