Custer's enemies and the US army waited until her death to effectively destroy her husband's reputation. No surprise here: during her lifetime, Elizabeth "Libbie" Bacon Custer collected more accurate facts on Little Bighorn than 90% of American historians and military experts since 1876.
But if you read modern books on Libbie, you will learn that she was somewhat stupid, naive, blindly in love, unable to understand military matters and that she made a lot of money out of her husband's death.

Libbie Custer, US General-in-chief Nelson A. Miles or Captain Frederick Witthaker are the most famous figures who unmasked the betrayal and the cover-up of Little Bighorn.

But do not expect to learn that from most US historians. Do not dig in the case, it is a mystery!
